Becoming pregnant while on birth control is always a miracle. When I found out I was pregnant with my 4th child I was nervous and excited that God blessed me with another baby. At 27 weeks we found out that our baby girl had Down Syndrome. I remember getting the confirmation phone call it was so unreal, all I could do was cry. Going to appointments doctors would ask me several times did I want to terminate the pregnancy. Feeling sad and depressed I kept her diagnosis a secret. I was afraid of what family and friends would say so, I literally didn’t share until I was 8 months pregnant that my daughter was diagnosed with Down Syndrome. Since she has been born we have had our share of ups and downs however, having her in my life is nothing short of amazing. She has given me so much strength and courage. With baby J apart of our family we feel complete. Not knowing much about Down Syndrome before Jaziah makes me want to spread awareness!

I'm involved in the Baltimore Buddy Walk® to support people with Down syndrome in my community. Please support my efforts as an advocate for the value, acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome.

For every step I take and every dollar I raise, I am helping to create a culture that fully includes the more than 400,000 Americans with Down syndrome. Last year, more than $13 million dollars was raised by more than 305,000 Buddy Walk® participants worldwide.

Your support for the Baltimore Buddy Walk®, either by walking with me or by making a donation, will help honor and celebrate people with Down syndrome.
